CNDSD MX
Mexican musician, digital artist, creative technologist and programmer Malitzin Cortés
Malitzin Cortés began using code to create generative visuals while she was studying architecture at Mexico City’s UNAM and ENSAP-La Villette Paris. Her curiosity led her to open source audio synthesis software and soon she was creating her own digital instruments and sounds while incorporating live coding into the mix. Her practice now explores the rich terrain of live coding, live cinema, installation, virtual reality, generative art, sound art and design, and performance—investigating the ways in which art, architecture, technology and science have the capacity to be modes of inquiry and devices for self-reflection and models of social interaction—capable of providing new relational possibilities that are physical, speculative, political and emotional.
As CNDSD, she creates experimental, cross-border musical exercises: granular landscapes, algorithmic vocal experiments, hypnotic noise improvisations, live coding and asymmetric patterns. She has performed and exhibited all over the world, while also working as a teacher and researcher in design, film and television, creative code, sound and immersive technologies, at the CENTRO University, in the Faculty of Arts of UNAM and STEAM.
