Kathy Hinde UK
Audiovisual artist based in Bristol
Kathy Hinde is an audiovisual artist inspired by behaviours and phenomena found in nature and the everyday. Her work grows from a partnership between nature and technology expressed through audiovisual installations and performances that combine sound, sculpture, image and light. Composed of hand-made objects, electronics and a blend of digital and analogue systems, Hinde’s work represents a cross between kinetic sound sculptures and newly invented musical instruments. She frequently works in collaboration with other practitioners and scientists and often actively involves the audience in the creative process. Hinde has toured extensively around Europe, USA, Russia, Canada, China, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia & New Zealand. Hinde has received a number of awards including an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica, a British Composer Award in Sonic Art, an ORAM award and a Scottish Award for New Music for her collaboration with Maja Ratkje. She became a Cryptic Artist in 2015 and is a member of the Bristol Experimental Expanded Film collective.
Her work appears in the exhibition Distant Arcades: https://virtual.mutek.org/
