Mimi Allard
Mimi Allard CA/QC
Sound designer and modular synthesist from Montreal
A sound artist at heart, Montreal-based Mimi Allard has been composing and showcasing her sound design talents in the context of movie soundtracks and artistic installations. Allard’s academic training started with Intermedia studies at Concordia University, before opting to further her knowledge on audio synthesis, programming, and 3D audio spatialization. Using modular synthesis, programming languages, and developing a new acoustic voice-based digital instrument, Allard searches to innovate and explore the physics, mathematics, and geometry behind sound synthesis. With her new duo project entitled 4:3, she explores math-based tuning ratios, as well as frequency modulation synthesis. With the help of a custom sound module, their mind-bending microtonal explorations are bound to lure the listener into an elaborate dance of sine waves.
She performs at the Play program: https://montreal.mutek.org/en/artists/mimi-allard-gabriel-lavoie-viau
