Argentinian multimedia electronic artist Águeda Sobico, based in Buenos Aires.

Since 2017, she has been exploring different languages of digital image from her practice as a VJ. In parallel to her presence in the electronic dance circuit, her search mutated towards the generation of immersive universes exploring the expressive capacity of light. To generate these environments, she works with different formats (installations, sculptures and projections), using a network of knowledge that intertwine and complement each other: programming lights and motors with Arduino; videomapping; generation, editing and mixing of videos and images; 3D modeling and sculpting of experimental materials (woven wire, plastic, biomaterials).

In her work, Águeda proposes futures where nature intertwines with technology in a dynamic, mutant “predator-prey” role-play game; imaginary worlds in which the notion of utopia and dystopia are not opposites but parallel and simultaneous. From a fictitious laboratory with chrysalises growing in the heat of electronic stimuli (“Larvary”) to new plant species that have developed their own light so as not to depend on an increasingly harmful sun (“Likydras”), their intention focuses on analyzing the symbiotic human-machine relationships and the consequences that the evolution of this bond has on nature.
